What information we collect
We do not use on-site contact forms. Instead, when you reach out or book time with us, information may be collected through:
- WhatsApp: if you contact us via our WhatsApp link, WhatsApp (owned by Meta) processes your phone number and message content according to WhatsApp's own privacy policy. We only see the messages and phone number you choose to share with us directly.
- Calendly: if you book a call, Calendly collects the information you provide (name, email, any details you add) according to Calendly's privacy policy.
- Vercel Analytics: if you accept our cookie banner, we use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This is privacy-friendly and cookieless by default, and may collect information such as page views, device and browser type, and how you found the site, according to Vercel's privacy policy.
- Google Analytics: if you accept our cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. This sets cookies and may collect information such as page views, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you found the site, according to Google's privacy policy.
We do not collect any information directly through the website itself (e.g. via forms).
Cookies
When you first visit the site, a banner asks whether you're happy for us to use analytics cookies. No analytics cookies are set until you accept. If you accept, we load Vercel Analytics (privacy-friendly and cookieless by default) and Google Analytics (GA4), which does set cookies. If you reject, analytics does not run at all, and only strictly necessary cookies (such as the one that remembers your choice) are set.
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.
How we use your information
Where information is shared with us via WhatsApp or Calendly, we use it to:
- Respond to your enquiries
- Schedule and manage bookings or calls
- Provide quotes, proposals, or ongoing client communication
Analytics data is used to understand and improve how the site performs. It is not used to identify individuals.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. Information may be shared with:
- Vercel: our hosting provider, which processes server logs as part of delivering the site.
- WhatsApp / Meta: for messages sent via our WhatsApp contact link.
- Calendly: for scheduling and booking management.
- Vercel Analytics: for website analytics, only after you accept our cookie banner.
- Google Analytics: for website analytics, only after you accept our cookie banner.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
If you are based in the UK or EEA, you have rights under UK GDPR including the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at charlie@builtbycharlie.dev. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children's privacy
Our website is intended for business use and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
